Snarky Candiru2

Elly describes Lizzie's latest growth spurt in a manner that sort of highlights how she regards change as a nasty shock.

(Strip Number 4059, Original Publication Date, 3 September 1981)

Panel 1: We start off with Elly dressing Lizzie for the day.

Panel 2: Having noticed that Lizzie's clothes are too small because she's had another growth spurt, Elly sighs and says that it happened again....

Panel 3: It seems that someone crept in overnight and shrank all her clothes.

Summary: What she means is that she has to scramble to get clothes that fit again and she's not ready; if Lizzie came with a print-out that warned her when she was going to have growth spurts, Elly would be grateful because then, she'd know when to shop for new clothes or, as we see tomorrow, go through Mike's old stuff for anything that would fit. The really interesting part is not that she's grown out of her clothes, of course; it's that this is one of the first examples of Lynn's failure to age the characters organically; she always switches from one model sheet to a new one as if she's digivolving them from their infant to child forms. Great...I just put the image of EllyGreymon in my head.

ETA: Speaking of this trend, it seems that Lynn just can't get enough of Aypo.
