Snarky Candiru2

Tuesday, 20 July 2010

In today's strip, we find that whoever lives in the cabin kept his canoe in lakeworthy condition; too bad that John isn't canoeworthy.

(Strip Number 152, Original Publication Date, 21 July 1981)

Panel 1: We start off with John and Mike smiling as he leans a door against the side of a building; he tells Mike that the lock was rusted shut so he took the door of off the boat shed.

Panel 2: Mike enthusiastically points out that there's a canoe. It and the life jackets seem to be in reasonably good condition.

Panel 3: Moments later, we see John and Mike at dockside; John, who isn't wearing his lifejacket, tells Mike that there's a special way of getting in a canoe.

Panel 4: He shows us why it's a good idea to wear flotation devices because, having pushed the canoe away from the dock, he's about to fall in; as he does so, he exhorts Mike to run quickly and ask Elly what that way is.

Summary: First off, this is going to baffle Kool-Aid Nation and the gang at Ucomics; they probably think that the Pattersons are on the way home or something. Once they wrap their heads around how John and Elly think that sharing their living space with vermin is part of the getting-back-to-nature trip, they'll probably get on a 'get a life' trip when people talk about boating safety.
