Snarky Candiru2

Thursday, 3 September 2009

Now that Mike's at school, I expect Lynn to pick up from where she left off yesterday and have Elly moan about how empty her life is now that he's in school; this will, of course, lead directly into a sequence wherein she gets to kick Rod in the groin by having John veto Elly's plan to get a part-time job.

First, of course, she has to undo one of her biggest stumbling blocks to going to straight reprints: the premature disappearance of Deanna Sobinski.

Panel 1: As Mike and Lawrence find their seats, the future Noble Scribe reminds his pal that they hafta sit in alphabetical order so he sits before Lawrence; Lawrence is so used to Mike speaking in Lynnglish that he says that's okay.

Panel 2: After all, if Mike is in front, the teacher will noitce him first. Mike smirks at the reminder that he'll be a disruptive influence all his school life.

Panel 3: As Miss Campbell ushers Deanna to her desk, Mike thought-bubbles her name as he never thought he'd see her again.

Panel 4: Mike tells Lawrence Deanna's here and has returned; Lawrence wonders why.

Panel 5: Mike smiles and thought-bubbles that maybe it's because she missed him.

Summary: Actually, Mike, you weren't involved in the decision to return at all; what happened is that Lynn has decided to hand-wave away a foul-up by givng Mira yet another scraping. Watching yet another extended sequence of how Evil Mira's Evil Ambition ruins everyone's happiness is going to be a lousy way to fill in the gap that the premature arrival of Farley created but it's the only way Lynn knows how to fill the gap her stupidity created.

The timeline I'm using......

As you know, the Elly of the current letters has a more interesting and coherent past than the one Lynn supplied her; to that end, I'd like to present this bare-bones account of what I think most likely to have happened and would appreciate any comments that would make it more plausible.
