Snarky Candiru2

Tuesday, 9 June 2009

It seems fairly likely that we're in for a week of Mike doing stupid things to impress people who treat him like dirt; perhaps one of those stupid things will be to come up with an insulting name for his kid sister.

And I'm wrong; we're in gag-a-day country again as we see Elly do something stooooopid because she's too impatient to think.

Panel 1: We start off with John holding a document; he explains to Elly that the fuel company didn't overcharge them despite her firm belief that they did. It seems that she paid the fuel bill twice. This, and the fact that they've got a credit balance, means little to a bleary-eyed Elly.

Panel 2: She still looks confused when he explains that it's no wonder they didn't understand the angry letter she sent them; after all, the words "Do not pay" are clearly printed where anyone can see them.

Panel 3: It's John's turn to be confused and horrified when she says that she simply pays the bills; she can't be expected to read them. He sees a future wherein he has to make all the decisions because his wife simply isn't adult enough to do so and it sickens him.

Summary: Here's another reason why the Pattersons were sooooo poooooor starting out: Elly was too damned impatient and dim-witted to keep track of her spending. If John had married better, he wouldn't have had to take up model railroading as a means of escape.

ETA: It's a bit early for a Father's Day banner but that hasn't stopped Lynn from putting one up.
