Snarky Candiru2

Saturday, 30 May 2009

It's fairly obvious that today's strip will be a reprint that has Connie use Elly's discomfort as a springboard for Rod-bashing. That's because Lynn just can't help herself.

Panel 1: We start off with Elly feeling guilty about Lurch the Gigolo making a pass at her. Translating her complaint from Lynnglish into English reveals that the source of her anguish is that she believes that she did not look married; she instead believes she looked like some pathetic single woman who didn't have a mayyyyyuuuunnnn to give her an identity.

Panel 2: Connie repeats the punchline from yesterday's strip by expressing disbelief that Elly would feel bad about attracting the attention of the World's Tallest Gigolobeing found attractive by a handsome fellow.

Panel 3: She next reminds Elly of the fear that haunts her every waking second by pointing out that John has plenty of opportunities to humiliate her by committing adulteryendure the same sort of nonsense at that convention.

Panel 4: Upon seeing Elly with her head bowed and her face frozen in the Bug-Eyed Glare of Existential Horror, Connie realizes that she might just have said something wrong. Geeze, ya think?

Summary: We can expect most of next week to consist of new-runs with a frantic Elly imaging the worst of John; given Lynn's leaden dialog and inability to see how people think, a casual observer will think that Elly is getting herself into a state over nothing despite Lynn's belief that it's obvious that Elly's fears are legitimate.
