Snarky Candiru2

Wednesday, 13 May 2009

It might be that we're about to launch into a new-ruin version of Connie's trip to Montreal; it could just as easily be that we're about to see Elly moan about how empty she is. What we do know is that it'll be more painful to watch than a David Caruso marathon.

It is painful: it's the "Why didn't I shut my mouth?" strip.

Panel 1: We start off with Elly, her head in her hands and her face frozen in the Bug-eyed Glare of Existential Horrortm, thought bubbling "I've done it! I've gone and gossiped about my friend Connie."

Panel 2: As she makes the universal gesture for "Let's try to remember just what stupid thing I did", she reminds herself that she told Annie things she's sure she shouldn't have. Ya think, crazy?

Panel 3: As she winces in pain remembering all the things she shouldn't have said, she asks herself "When am I going to grow up? When will the miracle of maturity change me?" Too bad we know the answer to that question, isn't it?

Panel 4: As she slumps off looking for sheets to shave, she proves that she won't grow up any time soon by blaming Connie; if her friend had told her that what she said was confidential, she wouldn't have blabbed.

Summary: This is three-quarters of a good strip; too bad Elly ruins the moral lesson by showing us how immature she is. We'll be seeing more of this when Connie is in Montreal.

ETA: We have yet another banner for your viewing displeasure.
