Snarky Candiru2

Tuesday, 21 April 2009

Having reminded ourselves that Lynn is an event cleaner, let's see who it is she's trying to impress. I have a queasy feeling that it's gonna be Ted so we can get his doomed romance with Connie out of the way.

We'll see who it is later; right now, we have to be reminded that Elly's horrible cooking is a family tradition.

Panel 1: We start off with Elly, who looks like she's about to vomit in terror, think to herself that it's time she cleaned out the refrigerator. If she's about to blow chunks, I'd say that she should have done that a long time ago but that's just me.

Panel 2: We next see her cleaning the fridge with her butt stuck out for our 'amusement'. She reminds herself that the following items -- one cup of nondescript gravy, what she thinks is custard, a slice of bologna and a mushy green pepper -- are no longer safe for human consumption.

Panel 3: Even though she's saved her family from a nasty bout of gastritis brought on by eating food that's no longer safe to eat, she reminds herself that she feels guilty about tossing this stuff.

Panel 4: After all, she thinks to herself (as she shoves it all into what must be a black garbage bag) her mother would have made all that into a casserole.

Summary: This puts all those annoying recipes into context; Lynn can take this strip and say that Elly didn't like Cheapie Weenie Casserole either. We'll be told that the arch non-jokes were a defense mechanism designed to cover up Elly's disgust at being like her mother and passing off garbage as food.
