Snarky Candiru2

Let's see how badly Elly botches the makeover she prescribes as the cure of Connie's ills. You just know that she's going to transform her from an attractive woman into a nightmare fuel station attendant; the horrible physical appearance meshes nicely with the freakish mutilation of common sense going on here. Instead of telling Connie to correct her rectal-cranial inversion and count her blessings, Elly is adding fuel to the fires of her friend's self-loathing. The failure doesn't stop there; we now know that this will lead to a reprint that has Elly discuss how Connie jumped through hoops for Pete only to have John wish he had that power over Elly. We must never forget that while Lynn thinks that women aren't complete unless they have the Token that says they're Taken, they can never be allowed to be happy or appreciated.

Hmmmm....We're headed that way, it would seem. That's because we have a reprint that has Elly actually being almost supportive.

Panel 1: We start off with Elly applying Clairol to Connie's scalp and telling her "Pete's been gone a year now, you have to accept that."

Panel 2: Connie knows that; she goes on to say that when she's alone like she is (Lawrence doesn't count because she can't have handjive with him), it's hard to forget.

Panel 3: She then says that her marriage to Pete was like the agony and the ecstasy.

Panel 4: She then says that she wishes that she could forget the ecstasy.

Summary: The reason she wishes she could forget all the good times is that if she did, then she wouldn't feel bad about being a single mom. Not knowing what she was missing would make her long for it less.
