Snarky Candiru2

Elly's letter, 26 January 2009

I'm pretty sure that the discussion question for the week will have something to do with Mike's cold. This means that we're probably in for a week of people sharing home remedies for coughs, colds and the flu.

I think I'm in the running for an envelope of Northern Canadian air today. We start with Elly describing the little talk she and John had with Mike where he admits that violence is not the answer (unless the question is Lizzie) and she learns that Deanna is moving far away, never to be seen again (or so she thinks), and how it's making him cranky; almost as cranky as the flu she realizes he must have been coming down with. This, of course, leads into Lynn trolling for home remedies for the flu. All I have to offer is plenty of liquids and a little vitamin TLC; how about the rest of you?

Yesterday's nondescript new-run confirms my hunch that we're in for Elly battling her family's flu while trying not to get sick herself. It's probably going to be fairly benign expect for Elly's odd belief that she's a failure because she didn't contain the outbreak instead of a success for making it through a siege with flying colors.

Oops. It looks as if Lynn has decided to replace her old arc with a new one.

Panel 1: We start off with yet another exterior shot of the Pattermanse. RevElly is on the phone telling Marian that both MikeClone and NeoLizic have the flu.

Panel 2: She goes on to say that MikeClone has a fever and NeoLizic has problems keeping food down. She notes that it all seemed to happen so fast. First one kid was sick, then the other.

Panel 3: She again tempts fate by starting to say she's feeling great.

Panel 4: Which, of course, means that her stomach makes a BRBBELBL noise. Is this karmic retribution for referring to herself in the third person
because she can't bring herself to call herself a mother or housewife? Who can say?

Panel 5: An obviously-ill RevElly tells Marian that she'll call her later. The reason: she's going to be violently ill.

Summary: It's Great-Grandma Marian to the rescue, I think. Either that or RetJohn will be a big jerk and boast about how he could have gotten her a flu shot too.
