Snarky Candiru2

Monday, 8 December 2008

We should probably the next few weeks of the strip to be a garbled retelling of the lead-up to New-Run Phil's arrival. Whether there will actually be new-runs is a crapshoot at best.

Spoiler Alert: I'm not sure how this moves the plot forward but watching Elly act like a jerk is always worth snarking.

Panel 1: Elly's on the phone telling Connie that her kid brother Phil is coming over for Christmas.

Panel 2: She explains that he's still with the theater playing the trupmet.

Panel 3: Is he married? Nope. He lives a crazy (read enjoable and fulfilling) life of late nights, women and travelling. For some reason, he likes to visit the Pattersons and experience their lives of lunkheadedly inappropriate martyrdom, selfishness, platitudes and children clinging off people like barnacleskids, mortgages and pets.

Panel 4: She thinks that's because it convinces him he's done the right thing.

Summary: Let's see if Lynn tries to subvert and/or distort Elly's attempt to keep two incompatible people apart. The strips with Connie's failed attempt to land Phil were difficult enough to watch; seeing her insert enough new-runs that the doomed "romance" of RePhil (his new-run name is courtesy of trumanf) and RetConnie ends up making her look like a full-on stalker promises to be even more painful to behold.
