Snarky Candiru2

Coffee Talk, 3 December 2008

Let's see what simple question Lynn answers today. It's another exercise in shameless self-promotion about the Farley plush. It seems there's a delay in the production due to a technical issue (the shiny nose had lead-based paint in it) so she's switching to a plastic one. That means that small children won't find something scary under the Christmas tree.

The theme for the week is "Idiot Elly goes on a diet because Irritating Super-mom Annie makes her feel inadequate." I expect to see a new-run that adds bulk but not depth to the storyline today.

Hmmmm.....Maybe Lynn has gone into straight reprints.

Panel 1: As Elly peels carrots in the background, John angrily states that if he has to eat more rabbit food, he'll leave home. Only in his diseased mind is having to eat a vegetable (to use the proper word for what disgusts him so) considered grounds for divorce.

Panel 2: He does get a little more grounded in reality by pointing out that it's crazy to diet now because they'll just gain it back over Christmas.

Panel 3: We next see a rather confusing panel as his waistline expands. The confusing part is that it takes milliseconds and is accompanied by the word BULGE floating in mid-air next to his belt-buckle.

Panel 4: He then testily asks her to pass the lettuce.

Summary: It isn't just Elly's insanity that causes his children to grow up with an unhealthy disrespect for good food. John's dismissive attitude towards anything that isn't high-caloric slop helps his kids eat like idiots.
