Snarky Candiru2

Thursday, 26 June 2008

Let's see what commonplace childhood behavior Elly fails to foresee today. After all, Mike, the Amazingly Average is interpreted as being funny and smart by his humorless nincompoop of a mother.

Panel 1: We see her lay down the law to him; if he's rude to her one more time, he's gotta spend the rest of the day in his room without supper.

Panel 2: He responds to this ultimatum by, of course, blowing a raspberry.

Panel 3: Angered by a predictable outcome, she carries out her threat.

Panel 4: She then thought-bubbles how they always cross lines she didn't want to draw. That's right. She's moaning about having to stick to her guns, the wavering git.

Summary: We've switched from her not foreseeing the obvious to her whining about how horrible it is that she has to be a parent. A lateral shift in total failure, at best.

ETA: I remember that this time last year, we were angered that Lynn was wasting time on another exercise in pointless martyrdom: Shannon's sermon on the cafeteria table.

ETA2: It's Liz's birthday today. Check out her squick-inducing banner and despair!
