I don't believe I've seen this before, so I'm giving it its own thread. I mean, I know it's an old strip, but I've never seen it, so it's new to me.

Panel 1: Well, I can see her point; that's a heck of a lot of toys in one place. Is that a train track or a firetruck ladder? And John's domestic bliss is being shattered, poor baby. That was a common theme in the early days of the strip: John wanting to be the king of the castle, but real life always intruding. Except, unlike his son, he worked through disturbances. Ooh, and more cursing!

Panel 2: Dirty noses? And you know, the mess WAS never-ending, throughout the years. Mike and Liz were never conditioned to pick up after themselves. Don't know if Elly should have tried something other than yelling, or if it was just a lost cause. Anyway, I hate to think of someone being tired of cooking. Housework doesn't have to be overtaxing either, unless of course, you're one neat person living with three slobs. Not entirely unsympathetic to Elly here.

Panel 3: Nothing in here about his helping, of course. She just has to accept her lot in life.

Panel 4: Oooooooooooooooo. Is Elly supposed to be getting busted here? Or are we supposed to see John disavowing a choice that he did make? In any event, I guess it's Elly's fault because she's the one with the womb.
