Panel 1: I thank the Lynnions for including Connie's name. If not for that, I wouldn't have known the person on the left side of the fence was a woman, much less who they were. I'm assuming it's Elly she's talking to, of course. Anyway, "Another phase of her life"? Who talks that way? And how is Elly's statement a response? Unless it's implied that Elly hardly seeing Liz is an indication that she's caught up in her exciting new life. Except for, you know, the part where she came running home in the first place. ETAAgain: And as el_eye_see points out, it seems to be official. Elly has only one daughter.

ETA: I love Edgar jus' hangin' out in the first panel, though. That image, of Farley or Edgar blobbishly oblivious to the world, will always bring a smile to my face.

Panel 2: AAAAAAAAAAAAA! Connie is a MAN, baby! And Elly, punch in. You don't need to know where Liz is half the time.

Panel 3: Well, Connie's right. And she seems to have traded her femininity for a body that, at least, is in better shape than Elly's. I wonder if Connie's appearance is any barometer of LJ's feelings about herself? And to be fair to Elly [gag] my mom was the same way before I moved in with Cookie Monster: she did like to hear from me at least every other day, just so she'd know I hadn't gone missing. Beyond that, though, she correctly regarded my personal life as none of her business.

Panel 4: I don't know if I agree with that. In fact, Connie is probably saying it just to shut Elly up. It's also what LJ probably tells herself to justify why her children want little to do with her: she was "too caring" or something.

Anyway, either this is a filler, and we'll have the meeting of eyes and hearts at Gordo's Retreat tomorrow, OR, we're in for more "Liz can't manage her life". I don't know which I dread more.
