Panel 1: As Elly walks April to her crib, she muses on the fact that her mother said that one day, she'd be put on a pedestal. What she does not notice is that Farley is following her.
Panel 2: As she gets a cup out of a cupboard, she reminds herself that Marian told her that a man would be so devoted to her that he'd worship the ground she walked on and follow her around. (Okay, she said 'about' instead of 'around' but that's because she's a fake Brit.)
Panel 3: She sits down looking mildly unsettled that this man would adore and love her without question. What did she get, she asks?
Panel 4: Since Cruel Fate has defeated her by gibing her a husband who fears her rages, her eyes disappear when she says that she got a short, hairy guy with bad breath and a poor vocabulary.
Summary: Elly Patterson is the only person who can make what looks like affection to an untrained eye and more like deference to a pack leader to those in the know and turn it into a problem. Of all of the Elly Pattersons in the world, she is the Elly Pattersonest.
