We begin the "They're actually putting lipstick on a pig" arc with Mike trying to explain it to Martha.

(Original Publication Date, 29 July 1991)

Panel 1: We find ourselves watching Mike in his bed writing to Martha. He starts off by saying that it hasn't rained in over a month and the crops are dry. This has caused Danny to hire a douser who came over with two metal rods to find a new well. That was ever weird.

Panel 2: We come to the point when he says that he's seen a lot of weird things lately. One of the weirdest was when a butcher came over to dress a hog for market. This looks as if we're about to be exposed to a grim reality of farm life: the conversion of domestic swine into Sunday dinner.

Panel 3: Since we only see Danny, Mike and someone I'll call Cam the butcher, having Cam say that Danny will win a prize for sure because he's raised a good lean hog makes the reader think that we're at an agricultural fair watching Danny move product.

Panel 4: We switch from PSA to low farce when we see the pig in a dress, flowery sun hat, nylons and heels so that Cam can tell us that it's lucky that the stockings come in one size fits all.

Summary: I wonder how the people in Miami, MB reacted to being depicted as morons and freaks from Green Acres. Probably not well if Danny's in-law is any indication.
