The one where John and Elly are astonished by the fact that Liz likes the idea of his being away even more than they do.

(Original Publication Date, 15 July 1991)

Panel 1: We find ourselves at Pearson International Airport watching the Pattersons see Mike off so he can spend the next four weeks learning valueless non-job skills. Elly tells him goodbye and asks him to call the house when he gets there.

Panel 2: A bit later, we see the rest of the family on the drive home. As the hoverwagon zooms down the highway and as the plane Mike is on takes to the air, Elly says "So, he's on his way. I'm sure he'll have a good time and I'm sure he'll survive four weeks without seeing Martha."

Panel 3: She then makes a token attempt to sympathize with her son by saying "Besides, you know what they say: 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder.'"; Liz then steers the conversation in a different direction by saying "It's true....."

Panel 4: Since John and Elly are stupid, it astonishes them when Liz says that the farther away Michael is, the better she likes him.

Summary: We get another reminder why Thursday when he's a hateful shit to her by remote control.
