The one where Mike makes a pungent observation about how 'healthy' farm life is.

(Original Publication Date, 9 July 1991)

Panel 1: As they drive home, John tells Mike that there isn't any sort of chance that he's going to work in that pool hall. Mike futilely says "But, Dad...." before pleading his case.

Panel 2: He tries explaining that it would be a good experience because Fiona said that she'd show him how to make burgers and fries and also wipe tables. It is a SUMMER JOB (that would allow him to stay in town).

Panel 3: Since he doesn't ever quite realize how much his mother fears Martha, he doesn't understand what she means when she says that he'd promised Uncle Dan that he'd work on his farm before describing it as a healthier environment.

Panel 4: Since what he remembers most about the farm is the stench, he yells "Shovelling manure?" in disbelief.

Summary: What he doesn't realize is that his parents never intended him to spend his summer at home that year. John wants to keep Elly happy and also doesn't like Fiona because she 'stiffed' him.
