Panel 1: John appears to have understood what "GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!" meant because later that day, we find him and Elly getting ready to head out for an evening to themselves. Elly explains this to an uncomprehending April by saying "Mommy and Daddy are going out for supper, April! Baby's going to be a good girl and stay home!"
Panel 2: "She's going to play and she's going to have a bath and she's going to have such a good time!"
Panel 3: We set up a minor bit of conflict when Elly tells her she's going to stay with her big brother! Isn't that nice? She's a lucky baby, yes, she is!!
Given that this time last year, we were talking about Mike wanting to at the very least put Liz in traction because he was provoked by being asked to consider her feelings, I should think that we're looking at the very first example of the upbeat negligent parenting that resulted in the Farley catastrophe, the Jeremy Jones incident and the Kortney mess.
Panel 4: When she hands April off to Mike, he gives Elly the penetrating death stare. This is because the jackass resents the idea of having to stuck with a drool machine when he could be wandering about aimlessly.
Summary: What we're about to learn is that not only does Mike hate the idea of helping out around the house, he's mortified by the possibility that THE GUYS!!!! might learn that he had to change a diaper. Given that Gordon once boasted about doing the laundry wrong on purpose to avoid doing so in the future, perhaps the first depends on the latter.
