Panel 1: The next day, we find John humming Zip-a-dee-doo-dah as he boasts to Jean about what a great mood he's in this morning.
Panel 2: He then blanks out on who Jean thinks of when he uses the phrase 'crazy woman' when he tells her she couldn't believe what it's been like at home lately. When he says he's relieved to get away from that woman because her presence is even more crazy-making than having a new baby, the only conclusion his refusal to specify what gender his cousin is (and the belief she's had all her life that her boss is a sub-human piece of shit mistreating a saint on Earth called Elly) leaves a revolted Jean with only one option as to who he's talking about.
Panel 3: He digs himself deeper by saying that despite taking the coward's way out by getting an apartment, he feels like a new man. He thus blinds himself to the fact that he's seen what Anthony will talk about when he clucks about babies being something to be thrown away.
Panel 4: Since she thinks he's still the same rat-bastard he always was, she confuses him by yelling "MEN!!!" with a disgusted look on her face.
Summary: In real life, this is where she'd let him have it and tell him how big a shit he's been to the wife and children he casually threw away because he's too weak to be a man. In the Foobiverse, she stews in passive-aggressive resentment so Lynn can 'rant' about gossip.
