Panel 1: Since Mike is an ass, he gets all giddy and smug about ripping away the wall of telling HIM what he can say and who he can say it to. Since he forgot what happened five seconds ago, he doesn't see her putting up the promised invisible wall coming.
Panel 2: Given his smug rat attitude, he asks "Yeah? And does it look like?" She says "Lots of bricks....built up like a castle!!"
Panel 3: We come to the crux of the problem when she says "Every time you hurt my feelings, I make a new brick!" and he replies "You? 'Feelings'? Give me a break!!"
Panel 4: His greasy and stupid smile when she yells "Brick number 7566!!" explains everything. He is truly his mother's child because he too thinks that other people only pretend to feel things to ruin him.
Summary: The problem with Mike that isn't "his parents are worthless failures" is that he's too stupid to understand that other people aren't extras in a television show all about him.
Also, we leave the most important strip in the arc:
on the cutting room floor because reasons.
