We begin the mad wall arc with Liz explaining why she's wearing a cardboard anti-Mike box over herself.

(Original Publication Date, 15 April 1991)

Panel 1: We find ourselves in the rec room watching Mike ask Liz why she's watching TV from inside a cardboard box. She explains that it's not a box from the diaper service now.

Panel 2: When she explains that it's a mad wall, Mike asks "A what?"

Panel 3: Liz explains that (owing to John and Elly's failure to be parents) he teases her all the time so she made a mad wall. She doesn't have to see him or really be with him. He dismisses the idea as being dumb.

Panel 4: He turns into a sullen jerk when she tells him that she doesn't have to hear him either.

Summary: This is guaranteed to do the reverse of what Liz wants to happen because of Mike's impulse towards dominance. Ain't no one can tell this ape where he can go and who can pay attention to him. Also, a strip gets left out so as to get the weeklies back in synch: "Your words weigh more."
