Panel 1: We find John having a fine old time setting up his model railroad.
Panel 2: He smiles broadly when the steam whistle on the model sounds.
Panel 3: He's delighted to see that the model bridge he set up is holding fast.
Panel 4: A smiling Elly comes in to join in the whimsy.
Panel 5: She compliments him on his handiwork because this is the Sundayverse. In the regular world, Regular Elly would lament not having room for chores.
Panel 6: They smile as they lean in on the model.
Panel 7: Next thing we know, we see Liz wondering what's going on. One would think that she'd join in but she just kind of hovers in the background not calling attention to herself.
Panel 8: She continues to watch Mom and Dad play with toys like children.
Panel 9: As Mike makes the scene, she passes by him and makes a reproving comment about how they live in a fantasy world sometimes.
Summary: We have just seen a sitcom version of a kid being baffled by the odd things that interest her parents. A normal kid would mutter "What's the point?" and move on but on television, they act like little adults.
