Panel 1: As they sit at the table,
Panel 2: Lynn/John is unmoved because here in North America, we have children in hospitals so we can have all the good drugs and be blessedly zonked out. Strawman/Elly misses the point entirely when she says that she's not sick because she doesn't see that she's at much higher risk of complications at her age.
Panel 3: She then reminds Lynn/John that women have been giving birth at home for hundreds of years. Lynn/John knows this.
Panel 4: Lynn/John hints broadly at what the endgame is when s/he says that s/he doesn't want to try anything new.
Summary: I should think that if one were to write a letter supposing that Lynn would somehow cheat by having a home birth by accident that traumatizes everyone, one would be accused of stealing the joy from her. They might as well have Mike come along and say "April will fool all of us!!"
