The one where anger born from worry reminds us that John is perceived as thinking that Elly is a dimwitted child who has to be saved from herself.

(Original Publication Date, 5 January 1991)

Panel 1: We find ourselves in the middle of a conversation that's going somewhere stupid when John reacts to Elly's vague idea of having the baby at home with hostility and disbelief; it terrifies him that she wants to do this. She replies by saying that she was thinking about it.

Panel 2: When Elly tells him that Connie says that a lot more women are having births at home and it makes sense if you're normal and healthy, he just plain yells "NO!! NO WAY!!!" because he's too John to say "That means nothing! You HAVE to act as if the worst case scenario is inevitable!!" like he wants to.

Panel 3: Elly has no idea that somewhere buried under his questions "What if something goes wrong? What if there's an emergency?" is "What do I tell the children if you, the baby or both die? It could happen you, know....or did Connie not tell you that?"; her reaction is to hint at what Lynn planned to do by saying that she was just thinking about it.

Panel 4: John makes me wanna fire off and punch him in the teeth by declaring that he doesn't want her to think (about doing something he's heard horror stories about that she hasn't) but wants her to be sensible because he forgets who he's talking to and also what she thinks of him in the first place.

Summary: John is legitimately worried for her and the child's health. John has a right to his opinion. John is screwed because he's triggered her "He thinks I'm a stupid child" senses.
