The one where Mike doesn't realize that there is a downside to taking pride in being a slob.

(Original Publication Date, 5 December 1990)

Panel 1: As Elly sews something, a worried Mike asks her if she went into his room. She makes a waspish comment about the state of his sty by saying that she's trying to avoid health hazards during pregnancy.

Panel 2: As Liz takes a glass out of the cupboard, she reminds Mike that he already asked her about this and she never took anything out of his room.

Panel 3: He unhinges his jaw and yells that some scum-bucket ripped off his music player (originally, his Walkman) because he has looked everywhere and cannot.....

You'll notice that he didn't finish that sentence. There's a good reason why.

Panel 4: Said good reason is that he stepped on the headset because it was one of the things being rotated to avoid spontaneous combustion.

A smart person would realize that he set himself up to fail by not putting things away when asked. Mike isn't a smart person.

Summary: Given what a hillbilly he is as an upstairs neighbour, figuring out that tidiness makes life easier is not something Mike ever gets through his thick skull. Tidiness is something Deanna imposes upon him because he is not a house-husband.....or anything else that belongs in a house!
