Panel 1: As she puts on her hat and coat, Mike asks Elly the super-redundant question "Are you going downtown, Mom?" in order to establish the plot of the next two days' worth of strips. Elly completes this task by explaining that she and Anne are going shopping for maternity clothes.
Panel 2: She then makes the mistake of feeding Mike a straight line when she tells her that Anne says that she'll feel better if she gets some new clothes because all she needs is some camouflage.
Panel 3: Since Mike is a terrible human being with no sense of what's right, he thought-bubbles a tank in camouflage paint. Since Elly knows that smile, she realizes that Mike is thinking of something amazingly disrespectful and hurtful because he's bad and needs to be destroyed.
Panel 4: When she barks back that she knows what he's thinking, he laughs the Sticky-Out Tongued Laugh Of Malice™
Summary: We thus continue the eternal dance of "Hurtful Idiot Who Refuses To Take Other People's Feelings Seriously So Should Be Brutally Murdered" and "Enabling Idiot Who Lets Him Insult Her Because She Refuses To Stand Her Ground."
