The one in which Liz comments on Elly's pregnancy-induced feeling of constant starvation via insensitive and ignorant wordplay.

(Original Publication Date, 20 November 1990)

Panel 1: We find ourselves at the dinner table watching Elly (whose plate is clean) ask Elizabeth if she wants the rest of her pot roast because the 'guy' downstairs is famished.

Panel 2: She then asks John if she can have the roll he seems to be taking his sweet time eating.

Panel 3: Liz sets up the 'joke' by asking Elly "When you're pregnant, you're eating for two, aren't you, Mom?"; Elly says "Um....yes....sort of" owing to her need to never give a child a straight answer.

Panel 4: This fails her because Liz observes that right now, she seems to be eating for all of them. This makes Elly go goggle-eyed in horrified confusion and also makes John's lips disappear so he cannot laugh.

Summary: At some point in the storyline, Liz ends up being afraid that this will happen to her someday. It does but we do not see it. We do not need to. We're seeing a coming attractions reel right now.
