Civic Holiday 2019

We transition into the super-important "Martha's family are horrible people who I cannot relate to because they are functionally identical to my own family" arc with Mike's rumination about life being interrupted by Walt telling him to keep his eyes on the prize.

Panel 1: We find ourselves watching Mike on shift reminding himself what an interesting business running a hot dog stand is.

Panel 2: One stands on the corner, watching the endless parade of Life as it passes by.

Panel 3: He then wonders what it's all about. His reverie is interrupted by Walt telling him to look busy.

Panel 4: Mike is taken aback because he didn't expect the answer to his question to be "We're here to make a few bucks, remember?"

He is also mildly surprised because Walt's face (as Twelve said before s/he became Thirteen) is all over the place.

Summary: In the television adaptation, the upcoming mess with Dave was turned into Walt explaining how little money he actually made running his business and Mike Learning An Important Lesson: "Small Businessmen Take It In The Nads: OFFICIAL." In the original, Dave is simply not cute enough to bend the rules for.
