The camp counselor means well when she reassures Liz that the matter of her missing glasses isn't a huge crisis because she has no idea who Elly is: a screaming nutcase who thinks that everyone is having a better time than she is.

Panel 1: When they arrive at the Community Centre, Lynda tells Liz that they can't go back to the beach. She fails to pick on the panicked tone in Liz's voice when she half-way screams "But I left my glasses there."

Panel 2: She also fails to grasp what it means when telling her to get her mom to drive her back when she picks her up causes her to burst into tears. This hints at the problem I have with this character: she has only a very superficial grasp of who Elly is because she does not know that Elly can only blow her stack at people who can't fight back.

Panel 3: Lynda does her best to reassure Liz when she explains that they'll probably turn up and hey, if they don't, it's not like the world is going to come to an end. Under the R....RONG!!!!

Panel 4: This leads Liz to wonder what killed off the dinosaurs.

Summary: This is the first of the things I've held in reserve when talking about this arc: most people have no idea who Elly Patterson really is. She certainly looks like a normal person who listens, doesn't she? The unwary could easily mistake her for a regular person who does not overreact mindlessly to mild inconveniences and who forgives children and so on and so forth. Liz knows better.....until she becomes Elly in the end.
