Liz's aggressive need to swat a fly becomes something of a problem because she's creating more havoc than the fly itself is. This is comedy.....or so I'm told.

Panel 1: We start things off watching Liz holding a flyswatter as she stares angrily at a fly buzzing overhead.

Panel 2: Since this is a sort of retread of the strip in which Mike demolished his bedroom trying to kill a mosquito, she violently knocks oven mitts off of their hook (and probably doesn't pick them up) trying to swat the fly.

Panel 3: The fly lands on the lid of a stew pot.

Panel 4: Liz violently jostles the pot lid when she tries to swat the fly.

Panel 5: We come to what should be Panel 1 of this overly long daily strip with Elly looking on in horror when she sees what's making noise in the kitchen: Liz so focused on doing something with a flyswatter that she doesn't realize that she's wrecking the kitchen.

Panel 6: As Liz knocks the lid off of the flour container, Elly asks Liz what she's doing.

Panel 7: Elizabeth tells Elly that she's trying to swat a fly.

Panel 8: As she gets ready to wreak more havoc, she doesn't understand why telling Elly that she doesn't want it spreading its germs makes her gobsmacked.

Summary: This is because Liz isn't very bright and doesn't understand that she's doing more harm than good and also that the flyswatter is probably more filthy than the fly is.
