Panel 1: The optician tells Elly that yes, Liz will definitely need eyeglasses. She'll send the prescription out that night and they can pick them up a week from now.
Panel 2: She's told that she can look through her selection of frames and choose some nice ones. This does not console her.
Panel 3: Having noticed Liz staring in the mirror with a glum look on her face, Stupid Idiot Who Is Stupid Elly asks her what she's doing.
Panel 4: She stares a thousand yard stare of total despair when she says "Remembering what I used to look like."
Summary: Elly doesn't understand that her own tendency to hate what she sees in the mirror (and need to never be consoled because it means that she is surrounded by cruel people who tell that her feelings are horseshit) has been passed down to blight the next generation. She also seems to have a sudden attack of amnesia about the presence in her household of a festering boil on the buttocks of humanity who hates the idea of Liz feeling good about herself.
