Panel 1: A little while later, we find Connie and Elly at a restaurant. As she reads from the menu, Connie says that the chicken looks good only for Elly to tell her that she's having the salad bar because she's cutting down.
Panel 2: When Connie asks "What about the soup?", Elly declares that noodles are too filling so she'll have the salad bar.
Panel 3: When the waitress comes to the table, Elly says that she doesn't want a roll because she's just having the salad bar.
Panel 4: When Elly places a plate piled sky-high with vegetables, Connie is aghast because Elly is having the salad bar.
Summary: This is just the latest in a series of strips that show that Elly cheats on her diet without realizing it. A few years ago, she polished off a bunch of leftovers only to turn around and say that she didn't need dinner because she was dieting. Eventually, she'll bellow at innocent baked goods and Liz will call her a fruitcake.
