Panel 1: As Elly starts the dishes, she does that pious closed-eyed thing as she lectures Farley about how he's out of luck if he won't eat the dry food. Liz plays the "But Mom" card in a futile effort to explain to the ignorant idiot in the ponytail that the dog has been trained to eat human food so denying him is somewhat cruel.
Panel 2: Elly will not be moved. She does the hands-out thing as she tells Liz that Farley has to cut down because he eats too much junk and doesn't get enough exercise. He goes into horrified cartoon critter mode in response.
Panel 3: As she starts to scrape leftovers into the garbage, she tells him that it's the leftovers that do it to him. If he ate just the right amount every day, he wouldn't be such a tub.
Panel 4: He reacts in confused horror as Elly gorges herself on the leftovers she denies him.
Summary: Elly is quite obviously projecting her own unhealthy relationship with food onto Farley. We get more of that Wednesday when we get a fat joke.
