(Strip Number 1631, Original Publication Date, 19 August 1989)
Panel 1: Later that day, we find Mike talking about his problems with his mom to people who actually give a shit about his feelings sometimes: Brian and Gordon. He leads off by saying that his summer vacation is a disappointment because he's spent half of his time mowing lawns and cleaning out the garage.
Panel 2: Gordon says that that's nothin' because HE had to help his dad re-roof their house and paint the back porch.
Panel 3: As Brian looks on, Mike says that this is the time when they should be able to just goof off and hang around like. Gordon agrees with this.
Panel 4: He then says that it's a good thing school starts soon.
Summary: We transition from one wanna-be bohemian trying to understand why Elly wants to kill joy to Phil trying to wrap his head around the fact that he must put aside the interests of his bachelor days. In both cases, mildly stupid men don't realize that they're helpless in the face of unsympathetic women.
