Panel 1: We find Connie and Elly comparing notes over coffee. As they do so, Elly declares her intention to have her hair cut only to have Connie say she was expecting it.
Panel 2: When her big surprise turns out to have been anything but, Elly asks her why Connie expected it. Connie explains that people their age tend to run off to get a new image when they think that they see their body deteriorating.
Panel 3: When Connie says that she's seen women get a new hairstyle lots of times when they wanna look younger, Elly wonders why.
Panel 4: Connie makes a rueful comment about how it's easier than losing the mythic ten pounds and takes longer to grow back.
Summary: What we've just seen is Lynn talking to herself about a decision she's making. Elly is the Lynn floating the plan and Connie is the Lynn poking holes in it because she's a gloomy person. Ah, well. In a few years, she'll be the person telling a baffled Elly how great her life is and then the one who laughs at every stupid thing Elly says.
