Panel 1: And once again, we are denied a payoff. Maybe April walked away from Gerald, and let that serve as her dismissal. Maybe we are to assume she caved in. All I know is, I've yet to see her call him on his bull, to his face. Pure passive-agressive Patterson. (How's that for some alliteration, Michealagh?)
Anyway, at least Eva has some grace and compassion. And I wonder if it's going to come up that Jim is the reason April got into music to begin with?
Panel 2: Ooh, past tense. See, he just wasn't the person he used to be. No shame in that, but April is beginning to understand that this didn't just happen out of nowhere.
Panel 3: Eva looks like a cave painting. And why do we keep getting these foreshadowings that Jim is going to bravely go through rehab? Why couldn't we just have had him go quietly? I can see April doesn't like the idea of Grampa being anything other than his formerly vibrant self.
Panel 4: I knew it. From denial to anger in one panel. And I understand April's upset and has to take it out on someone, but why not vent on the person who was truly being insensitive?
Panel 5: What a freaky face. And again, she's accusing the wrong person. At least she didn't say it out loud. I can understand how she feels, but at least Eva was trying to be helpful, instead of saying, "Big deal, practice or else."
