We end the week with a demonstration as to WHY Elly doesn't see enough sunsets; that's because she realizes far too late that she pretty much talked her way into volunteering herself to become the head of yet another committee.

(Strip Number 5077, Original Publication Date, 14 January 1989)

Panel 1: Now that we're at the meeting, Elly tells the other hockey parents to face the fact that the rink needs repairing for some reason. It's going to cost money and they're going to have to fund-raise.

Panel 2: She then proposes forming an ad-hoc committee that will seek out grants and sponsorship, phone people looking for support and contact the media.

Panel 3: As the three mothers nearest her look away, she then states that said committee should be chaired by a volunteer.

Panel 4: When they look at her as if to say that she just volunteered herself, she makes an strangled "Erk" noise.

Summary: Elly never manages to see something this obvious coming because she's pretty poor at understanding that if she talks up the need to do something, people expect her to do it. Also, look for this minor reverse to become another episode of Ragnarok and Roll.
