(Strip Number 4992, Original Publication Date, 6 July 1988)
Panel 1: Lizzie makes the scene to ask what the boys are doing rooting around the floor. Mike responds by saying that they're looking for bugs.
Panel 2: Lizzie is horrified when Mike tells her about Gord's plan to nuke a bug and even more horrified by being invited to watch.
Panel 3: Since Lizzie is a stereotypical little girl, she reacts with horror when stereotypical denizen of THAT neighborhood Gordon waves a spider the size of a dinner plate in her face and tells her how messy its popping will be.
Panel 4: Given that Mike joins Lizzie in being rather upset when Evil Poor Person Gordon tells the poooooor spider to say its prayers 'cause it's gonna fry, we're obviously setting Mike up for a reluctant henchman edit.
Summary: Although he's reluctant, he's also not especially aware of why he should be despite living in a world where he can't get away with anything much at all. We know that someone's going to come along to stop the spider from going kablooey but since he doesn't have the advantage of reading the collections, he doesn't realize that he's been set up to fail.
