(Strip Number 4991, Original Publication Date, 5 July 1988)
Panel 1: We find the boys in the basement. When Gordon asks how long they hafta eat in there, Mike says "Till the kitchen's finished."
Panel 2: When he tells Gordon that they borrowed a camp stove (that's not a Canadianism for cooktop, that's Lynn not knowing what it's called) and minifridge, Gordon interrupts to marvel that they brought the microwave down.
Panel 3: He gets REALLY enthusiastic when he asks Mike if he ever put a fly in the microwave because they last 30 seconds before they pop.
Panel 4: When Mike says how disgusting that is, Gord asks him if he wants to try it.
Summary: While we have to wait for the stupid pay-off (since this world is a bad place filled with bad people and bad children and bad dogs who hate her for some reason or another, poor Elly's wishes are always disregarded and no one ever lets her get what she wants so let us clutch her to our collective bosom and cry bitter, angry tears), the theme of Mike being too suggestible for his own good is, shall we say, blazingly obvious. This allows Lynn to whine that a boy who doesn't need help getting himself into trouble (as the mess with the refrigerator box shows us) gets into trouble listening to The Wrong People (which is to say "anyone who isn't his parents or those they trust to reinforce their value system").
