As one could expect, Elly turns the harmless event called a sleep-over into a referendum on how she's the victim of all victims surpassing all others.

(Strip Number 4958, Original Publication Date, 26 April 1988)

Panel 1: Professional Martyr Elly wails to Connie because for some reason, she actually allowed Mike to oppress her and destroy her life by having a sleep-over.

Panel 2: She doubles down on how every damned thing her kids do or want is somehow a sign that they hate her and plan never to be grateful just to spite her by yowling about having six boys mess up her rec room and thus destroy her and make her look inferior in the eyes of The Quality Women.

Panel 3: Connie makes an assholish comment about how Elly (who has suffered more than anyone in human history has, does or shall) hasn't enough stress in her life.

Summary: If Mike were wishing for a tolerant, easy-going mother who doesn't mess up his life by acting like every little thing he does is part of his plot to destroy her, his wish did not come true.
