(Strip Number 4951, Original Publication Date, 9 April 1988)
Panel 1: As Elly reads the paper, John looks out the picture window and says how great it is to see the kids racing around outside.
Panel 2: When he suggests that she join them outside, she says that she'sd rather stay where she is.
Panel 3: A disbelieving John asks her what possible reason she could have for wasting the beautiful day they've been waiting for for months indoors.
Panel 4: Although he doesn't see the manic gleam in her eyes, her tone of voice must make her comment about how she's waited five months to have the house to herself is an unsettling reminder that she doesn't much like being around children.
Summary: John never quite managed to figure out that Elly's deepest yearning was for a place all to herself without any demands on her time. This is because he's not very smart really and he also doesn't like questioning his need to define her as "cooker of meals, tender of children and provider of back-rubs."
