(Strip Number 4945, Original Publication Date, 30 March 1988)
Panel 1: Since hockey is a confusing blur to Elly, we find her yelling "Skate, Mike, skate" as a means of encouraging him to get a field goal or whatever, Lizzie tries to bring something to Mommy's attention.
Panel 2: Again, Lizzie tries to call Elly's attention to a fact while Mommy is busy cheering her son on.
Panel 3: Elly finally allows Lizzie to interrupt her inept cheering and asks her what she's trying to tell her.
Summary 4: Elly does the deer in the headlights thing again when Lizzie tells her that he's still on the bench.
Summary: What we have here is yet another strip rendered obsolete by changing values. As Marciuliano's pillorying of Ted Forth for being two different flavours of asshole clearly indicates, today's coaches would not even think of letting Mike spend the game keeping the bench from floating away.
