(Strip Number 6719, Original Publication Date, 27 March 1988)
Panel 1: As Elly stares into the closet, John points out that they're only going out for dinner before asking why it's taking so long to decide what to wear.
Panel 2: She tells him that she's out of practice.
Panel 3: When she asks if he likes the dowdy thing she has on, he says that he does.
Panel 4: She isn't sure she likes it so she decides to change into a different librarian dress.
Panel 5: She again asks if he likes it and again, he says he does.
Panel 6: She wants to be sure about that and yes, he still is.
Panel 7: When she asks if he really, REALLY thinks she looks okay, he says yes, she looks fine.
Panel 8: As they get in the car, he asks her why she's so insecure because she looks great.
Panel 9: We find ourselves dealing with another strip that's one panel too long when she asks if he's being honest and he says yes.
Panel 10: This is because he says that he liked the first one better.
Summary: The idea seems to be that she's insecure because he isn't really honest. This is nuts because she doesn't really need help being insecure. Se appears to have been born needing validation from others that she doesn't really accept.
