We end the week with Mike being a stupid jerk to Lizzie and this somehow baffling the moron main character.

(Strip Number 4943, Original Publication Date, 25 March 1988)

Panel1: As Lizzie shows Mike the quarter she got from The Very Angry Tooth Fairy, Mike decides to channel Maynard G Krebs and say "Easy money, nan" about getting money that way.

Panel 2: We next see Lizzie surprising Elly by running away screaming.

Panel 3: When Rage-Face Elly asks Mike what's going on. he explains that Lizzie told him that she got a quarter from the Tooth Fairy.

Panel 4: Elly goes all bug-eyed with confused horror when he holds up a pair of pliers and tells her that he found a way to get Lizzie to earn a buck.

Summary: We never do get a slow burn or mildly peeved aside glance when the kids act like sitcom mutants. Either Elly is screeching in confused terror or she's about to do so.
