(Strip Number 1260, Original Publication Date, 9 March 1988)
Panel 1: As she types an article for the paper, Elly no-sells Mike when he asks for a dollar.
Panel 2: He irritates her when he promises to pay her back out of his allowance in much the same whining, entitled tone Phil uses when he wants to smoke up the place like a dick.
Panel 3: Since he ain't picked up a damned thing off of his floor in two weeks, she asks him "What allowance?" when she reminds him that he ain't done thing one to earn spending cash. His meekly muttering "Oh" should end things but it doesn't.
Panel 4: When he asks for an advance on his inheritance instead, Elly is gobsmacked.
Summary: This is because she's rather easily overwhelmed and thus would of course regard this sitcom punch-line as bafflingly clever instead of nauseatingly obvious.
