(Strip Number 4917, Original Publication Date, 9 January 1988)
Panel 1: Later that night, we find Elly in bed talking about how marriages didn't used to break up but instead lasted forever.
Panel 2: Since she's only dimly aware of the horrifically punitive divorce laws that used to obtain in the Dominion Of Canada, Elly wonders if she should blame modern thinking for the problem of people not working things out.
Panel 3: She then gets all affectionate when she asks John if he'd stay to work things out if there were ever a problem between the two of them. He says "Sure."
Panel 4: When he compares their marriage to a barge that it would be cheaper to salvage than to replace, she is not ecstatic.
Summary: This is the sort of demeaning, belittling idiot she shoved down Lizardbreath's throat as being a best friend. This is a conversation Liz and Anthony are having right now. This means that "Forget about being treated with respect, gals...get paid!!" seems to be the moral of the strip.
