Lynn ignores the evil fungus person snarker-troll concept called 'a consistent continuity' when Connie reveals that when she thought she was engaged to Ted, Irene was the other woman.

(Strip Number 4916, Original Publication Date, 8 January 1988)

Panel 1: As they drink coffee, Connie notes that Ted and Irene have finally split up.

Panel 2: When Connie asks her if Irene left Ted was because he was seeing another woman, Elly says yes.

Panel 3: When this doesn't surprise Connie, Elly wants to know why.

Panel 4: The reason is that when she was dating (it used to be 'engaged to') Ted, Irene was the other woman.

Summary: This is the man she'll always be a bit hung up on because she still thinks she could have changed him. She's wrong because only Lynn can change who people are. After all, she didn't have a kid until Lynn paired her up with Lawrence.
