Panel 1: We start things off with Elly reminding the kids that it's going to be a late night for them so they have to change into their pajamas.
Panel 2: This is because they need to be ready for bed because they're gonna be dead tired staying up until midnight because it's at least three or four hours past their normal bed time.
Panel 3: A while later, we find the family on the couch watching Canadian Content Dick Clark ring in the New Year.
Panel 4: As a long-since asleep John and Elly snore, wide-awake Mike wishes Lizzie a Happy New Year.
Summary: If there are notes, we can probably expect Lynn to channel my late mother and state that she was never a fan of staying up late for a dubious reason like celebrating when one year turned into the next.
