(Strip Number 4895, Original Publication Date, 25 November 1987)
Panel 1: As they walk down the high street, John tells Ted that his career used to be exciting and filled with new challenges every day.
Panel 2: As they enter a pub, he reminds Ted that he took courses! and had plans! and set goals for himself!
Panel 3: Now, it's an endless cycle of get-up-go-to-work-go-home. He makes the mistake of asking Ted how to break that cycle.
Panel 4: Since John forgot that his buddy is a skirt-chasing Threat To Society who wants to destroy Elly's home because He Does Not Respect WOMEN, he's gobsmacked when Ted tells him to not go home.
Summary: We're pretty much at the last phase of the stupid soap opera Lynn blighted the strip with in the first decade. All we need is for Ted to try one last time to trick John into doing the stupid thing that makes him an eternal joke character. We start off by reminding the audience that Ted Is A Bad Man And Gives Bad Advice Because He Is Bad And Does Not Respect Elly.
